Week 2 Results
By Fergal Carroll
Week 2 of the XLMS season is in the bag and we’ve already lost half the player pool! Let’s recap the week.
The Picks
The One Where The Ravens…
Vegas went and did it again. Their biggest favourite of the week only went and lost. The Las Vegas Raiders edged the Baltimore Ravens 26-23. The Raiders’ Daniel Carlson kicked a 38 yard FG with 27 seconds left on the clock. Lamar and co weren’t able to get into striking distance to give Justin Tucker a chance and the Ravens are 0-2 on the season for the first time since 2015.
Charging Ahead ⚡
Jim Harbaraugh’s Chargers look to be gathering steam, currently standing 2-0 after two stout defensive performances and a running game the likes the Chargers haven’t seen since the days of Melvin Gordon. The much fancied Bolts raced into a 20-0 lead at half time and Carolina never looked threatening. Bryce Young limited to a paltry 84 yards on 18 completed passes.
The Panthers were so bad in fact, that The Red Rifle himself has been declared QB1 for Week 3. Carolina will be hoping for a turnaround soon, they will quickly become the whipping boys of the XLMS.
Lone Gunners
Coming with a solidarity pick for each, the Chiefs and the Texans both round off the selections for the week.
The Chiefs left it late, requiring a defensive PI call to help move the sticks within FG range to seal a 25-26 home win against everyones favourite Bengals.
The Texans had a relatively more straightforward game, beating the Chicago Bears 13-19 in Houston to consign Caleb Williams to his first NFL defeat. Nico Collins looks to be emerging as the WR in Texans with a 8-135-1 statline that helped make the win more comfortable than the scoreline suggests.
Goodbye
