Week One Results
By Fergal Carroll
Week 1 of the XLMS season has been completed and it’s been chaotic to say the least. Lets dive into the action below.
The Picks
Bengal’s Fail With a Whimper
Jerod Mayo’s Patriots pulled off the shock of the weekend with a 10-16 home win against the heavily fancied Cincinnati Bengals. Kyle Dugger had the play of the game, preventing a near certain TD for the Bengal’s with a amazing last ditch tackle on Cinni TE Tanner Hudson bearing down on the endzone.
Much to the chargin of XLMS players, the Bengals couldn’t muster up a comeback as Joe Burrow & Co fell to 0-1 for the 3rd consecutive season.
A Tale of Two Js
When you think of the two Js, you might think we are talking about the Boston Celtics famous duo Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. But it seems that the XLMS has its own darling Js - Jack and John. It looks like they knew something everyone else didn’t.
Two savvy selections in the Miami Dolphins and the Seattle Seahawks saw these two boyos seal their entry into Week 2 with their buybacks intact."
Miami Comeback
It wasn’t all plain sailing though. The Dolphins required a walk-off FG to complete a 20-17 comeback away to the Jags.
It could have been a different story had Travis Etienne not fumbled on the goal line with just over two minutes left in the 3rd quarter. Instead, Tua Tagovailoa launched a rocket down field that ended with an 80 yard Tyreek Hill TD. A 14 point swing in less than 30 seconds.
Seahawks Keep LMS Alive
Despite a rocky start the Seahawks overcame the Denver Broncos and their rookie QB, Bo Nix, to seal a 26-20 in the late window.
Praise Geno Smith, who had a 34 yard TD run, for keeping XLMS alive for another week at least.
Week 2
Most players will have a big decision this week- buy back to fight the odds against the two Js or bow out in disgrace.
This XLMS season is looking to burn twice as bright but half as long compared to regular old LMS. Lets see what week 2 brings - buy back or be damned!
